The LGBT Law Section meeting and the biggest CLE event year occurr in conjunction with the State Bar of Texas' Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting Committee is responsible for planning both the Section's CLE track at the SBOT Annual Meeting and the Section-sponsored reception after the event.

The CLE Committee plans, develops, and coordinates the LGBT Law Section's Continuing Legal Education courses and events throughout the year. In past years, the LGBT Law Section has partnered with other SBOT Sections to set out updated information on a variety of different topics including both in-person trainings and video presentations available through webcast.

The Communications Committee is responsible for maintaining contact with and getting information out to the LGBT Law Section members. This committee coordinates the Section's Newsletter, Social Media, Website, and Membership Directory.

The Law Student Division Committee is responsible for coordinating outreach to LGBT and Ally law students and involving them with the LGBT Law Section events.

The Legislative Committee identifies any pending legislative action items with relevance to the LGBT Law Section throughout the legislative sessions, and works within the rules for SBOT Sections to further the interests of the LGBT community.

The Membership Committee is focused on the growth of the LGBT Law Section by attracting new members through outreach, as well as making contact with former members whose membership has lapsed.

What We Do?
The LGBT Law Section's main purposes are to promote the study and discussion of legislation, court decisions, and government regulations that affect the LGBT community and persons who are living with HIV, and to facilitate communication and advocacy for fair and equal treatment under the law for members of our community.

How Can I Get Involved?
All of our Committees as coordinated by volunteers from the the Section Council and volunteers from our Section Members. To be an active part of your LGBT Law Section, please review the Committee descriptions on this page and contact the Section if you can help with a Committee or project.
